Social proof (informational social influence)

An Individual’s tendency to seek information and reassurance from other people (a type of conformity); we look to others for guidance on social behaviour.​ In social situations people are influenced by others, which can lead to herd behaviour – this is especially likely when the person is unsure how to behave in the situation.
